Mountain Huts and "gîtes" 

 Between peaks, lakes and valleys, more than 300 altitude accommodation can welcome walkers, hikers or climbers in Savoie Mont Blanc.

"Gîtes"

Collective self-catering accommodation for independent hikers with a kitchen area and bag-free room. They can be approached by vehicule.

Chalet inns
Hotels, inns and other types of accommodation that do not meet the criteria for "gîtes".They can be approached by vehicule (some of the year at least).

Medium altitude Mountain Huts

High altitude shared accommodation in isolated locations with or without supervision. They cannot be approached by vehicule or ski lifts (some of the year at least). Hikers are free to use the premises, open permanently outside supervised (winter Mountain Huts) period. Kitchen area and a bag-free room.

High altitude chalets

Other high altitude accommodation without the specific services provided by Mountain Huts.

High altitude Mountain Huts

Approached via high altitude itineraries which may include glacier crossings and steep passages which may or may not be equipped appropriately.

Sleeping and meal arrangements: as for medium altitude Mountain Huts.

Moutain Huts, supervised or not, are not necessarily opened all winter long. Always check it is opened in advance.
